The other problem is that nations like Saudi Arabia are willing to take on Iran because it is the old Sunni versus Shia battle. However, if the West dismantles Iran to become a weak nation that cannot fight back, this will upset the already delicate balance in the Muslim nations. The Shias are the only ones that keep the Sunnis from being more aggressively proselytizing than they already are. It is this dogmatic Sunni Islam that is causing the Taliban and its cohorts to come to life.

Imagine a similar situation as if there is no balance between the Protestants and the Catholics. You are likely to get an Inquisition again. Shia Iran is a small part of Islam that is necessary to keeping the others on their toes. Personally, I would prefer that religion was not part of any state but that wish is a dream that is not likely to come true soon, given the over fondness of this world to attach itself to mythologies of some sort. Many turn to religion in their frustration at seeing the injustices of the world but it is a vicious cycle.

Take care and keep up the good work. Tamzin

I back away from articles that use loaded language towards President Ahmadinejad….I honestly don’t think he’s a ‘Radical” anymore than I think David Duke is a “White Surpemacists” “Or the EX Head of the KKK”……when writers start using that kind of language, I don’t spread their vehemence…….it a tactic I use consciously…..otherwise we continue the demonization of Ahmadinejad and Iran.
