Does US-Israeli Missile Defense War Game Signal Israeli Attack on Iran?

Does US-Israeli Missile Defense War Game Signal Israeli Attack on Iran?
There’s no word in the Western press, but Aljazeera reports that the US and Israel are conducting tests of the high altitude missile defense system that the US has provided to Israel.
The anti-missile system is useless against the short range rockets of Hamas and Hezbollah. Its purpose is to protect Israel from longer range Iranian missiles.
Everyone understands that Iran would not attack Israel except in retaliation. It is logical to conclude that the missile defense system signals an upcoming Israeli attack on Iran.
If the US were opposed to an Israeli attack on Iran, the US would not provide Israel with protection against retaliation and would not engage in war games with Israel to test the system. The best way to prevent an Israeli attack on Iran is to leave Israel open to retaliation.
This decision by the United States government is irresponsible in the extreme. It enables Israel to spread aggression in the Middle East. By signaling an attack, it would encourage a less cautious country than Iran to strike first before the Israeli missile defense system is operative.
The joint US-Israeli war games involving 2000 troops from the US European Command, the Israeli Army, and 17 US Navy ships is further indication to the world that no matter what crimes the Israelis commit, the US will protect Israel from being held accountable.
In the world today, the US and Israel are the two threats to peace.

Congress Denounces Goldstone, Baird Courageously Dissents
———————————————————————————
Washington, D.C. | November 4, 2009 | Yesterday, the US House of Representatives voted 344-36 in support of the remarkably biased H. Res. 867 which called on the President and the Secretary of State to unequivocally oppose any endorsement of the Report of the United Nations Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict. During the debate on the House floor, it became increasingly clear that the Members of Congress who voted for H. Res. 867 had not read the report, and instead were relying on inaccuracies and deeply flawed arguments made around the Report. By passing this resolution, Congress sent a message yesterday that it does not stand for the accountability of war crimes committed in Gaza, the protection of civilians, and/or the restoration for peace.
Though the vote was very one-sided, 36 Members of Congress – 33 Democrats and 3 Republicans- courageously voted to oppose H. Res. 867, and correctly pointed out that the opportunity of holding a hearing on the Report did not even exist, and that such resolution does nothing to promote peace and accountability. The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) urges you to recognize and thank these 36 US House Representatives for exhibiting real leadership by contacting them TODAY. Subject: Alison Weir: Wu’s vote on Goldstone-Gaza resolution 867
Date: Tuesday, November 3, 2009, 6:27 PM
The good thing is that 58 people were courageous enough not to vote for it (36 opposed it; 22 abstained). One of them was Oregon Congressman David Wu. Even more important, he signed on to Brian Baird’s excellent letter.
I met with Wu’s staff member in Portland yesterday, gave him the Goldstone report and additional materials, described my own visits to Gaza — including one last July — and asked him to urge Mr. Wu to oppose the resolution. I know many other people also called his office and had met with him previously. I think this has made a difference.
While I dislike militaristic imagery, sometimes it’s appropriate: AIPAC has won this battle. But by flexing its muscles so blatantly and obnoxiously it is losing the war.
I’ll be redoubling my efforts to tell Americans what just happened in the House of Representatives and what continues to happen in Palestine, and I know you’ll all do the same. The Israel lobby thrives on darkness; we’re starting to turn on more and more lights. In the end truth will vanquish deceit.
