Obama Concurs With Foreign Policy Views of Neocon Robert Kagan

Robert Kagan, with Bill Kristol, co-founded the Project for the New American Century (PNAC) and is a leading neoconservative figure. The author, James Mann, points out that Obama has been “touting parts of Robert Kagan’s new book, ‘The World America Made’?” And Kagan serves on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s Foreign Affairs Policy Board.

 Like most neocons, Kagan is politically non-partisan. Mann writes: Kagan “seems to care less about partisanship than about ideas, particularly his advocacy for a powerful American role in the world. When Obama’s actions and rhetoric have been in line with Kagan’s views (in the surge in Afghanistan, for example), the author [Kagan] has been willing to praise the president — much as Kagan, unlike most Republicans, supported President Bill Clinton for his military intervention in the Balkans.” One might note that Obama’s “surge in Afghanistan” has led to America’s current predicament there.
