“But, my concern has always been, since we were misled with the intelligence to go into Iraq, and all the number of young men and women who have been killed, and loss of limbs, that Congress needs to come back to what the Constitution says, and that is, if you’re going to commit our young men and women to fight and die, you must declare war.” – Rep. Walter B. Jones, 09/21/12
Please seriously consider posting the following article “Will antiwar orgs get behind HCR 107 to prevent war on Syria?” on your website and forwarding it to others you know of as an email blast to help us in trying to prevent Obama going forward with a US/NATO military attack on Syria … which is very dangerously close to happening.
The intent of HCR 107, introduced by Congressman Walter Jones of North Carolina on March 7th of this year, is to reassert the power of Congress to declare war. It gives a clear warning to President Obama that should he circumvent Congress in taking our country to war, unless in response to the United States being attacked, he will face an article of impeachment initiated by the U.S. House of Representatives.
President Obama has already demonstrated that he will order the United States military to attack another country without even consulting the U.S. Congress, let alone getting a Congressional Declaration of War, when he “phoned in” from other business he was tending to in South America the order to attack the sovereign North African nation of Libya on the 19th of March 2011 … 8 years to the day after President George W. Bush’s own unprovoked and unilateral “Shock and Awe” attack on Iraq.
We sure would appreciate you making room for and promoting the article “Will antiwar orgs get behind HCR 107 to prevent war on Syria?” on your website.
